Chalk Paint Stencil Project

Hello, hope you all are having a beautiful weekend!  We just finished up training some new Chalk Paint™ retailers from Arizona and Utah.  We had a great time and hope they did too.  If you are in the Mesa area, stop by and visit Wood Creations Furniture and coming to Vernal, Utah in September is Ooh La La & Friends.  Both are wonderful, creative, and talented and will be able to help you with all your Chalk Paint needs.

Looking back over our photos, I realized that we never shared our door makeover.  We did it awhile ago, but I forgot all about it.  In our store, we have a long hallway leading back to the bathroom door.  It was rather boring, so we decided to add some Chalk Paint (of course!) with a stencil
Super quick and easy to do, I did it in an afternoon between customers.  I used a combo of Old Ochre, French Linen and Coco to add some variation and interest.
Now, when you walk down the hall, there is something pretty to look at.
Enjoy the weekend!

Chalk Paint™ Link Party

I know it has been a little quiet for us here in the blog world, but I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth in reality!  We have been in the middle of completely renovating our kitchen and our store, both at the same time!  Crazy, I know, and it actually wasn't planned to be that way, but that is just the way life is, isn't it?  We have so many photos and things to share, now just to find the time...

I think the theme from last week's link party was stencils!  So many beautiful pieces.  I love how Kathy from Life on Lakeshore Drive created her own stencil on this lovely little table.  She used Coco and Old Ochre to add a little extra design to her project.  You are very patient, Kathy, what a great idea!
April, from A Heart's Desire scored this island for F-R-E-E and just added some French Linen that she already had on hand to complete and personalize it for her kitchen.  Can't beat that!

Chalk Paint™ Link Party!

Hello all!  Hope you are having a beautiful week!  Thanks again for a wonderful party last week.  What really caught our attention was the projects that you created using items that most people would not even consider looking at, yet alone painting.  We are always telling our customers how versatile Chalk Paint™ is and how there is no other product like it on the market.  Well, you proved it this last week!  It is amazing to see the transformation a simple pot of paint can make on cast off items.

Check this plastic shelf that Nicole from De tout, de rien refinished with Antoinette.  Yes, it started as gold plastic, that had been painted an ugly brown until Nicole saw its potential and gave it new life.
Simple and easy!

You must take a look at what Suzan from Simply Vintageous started with here.  I have to admit that I would have totally passed this one over.  She started with a burnt and filthy TV tray.  Yet, look at the beautiful finished product she created with Coco and Old White.  Amazing!

Chalk Paint Link Party

We love beautiful Colorado, but hate to see this...
This is just one of many fires in our state right now.  But this one is literally in our backyard!
The above picture was taken at the Air Force Academy, which is about 2 miles from our house
Our gorgeous mountains are on fire
And getting a little too close for comfort.
Praying for all the firefighters and hundreds of families currently evacuated.
(the above pictures were from our local news station)

Thankfully, no lives or structures have been lost.  Don't know how you transition from that to our link party, but I must say it is nice to have a distraction from what we are seeing...

Kristen from Sophia's Decor is working on a gorgeous master bedroom makeover.  Here is her dresser she paint with Coco and Old White.  Everything is looking so good now, I can't wait to see the completed room!

Amanda from Girl in Pink updated this dresser with Paris Grey and Old White.  On of the amazing things about Chalk Paint is that you can't even tell that the top was laminate, it all looks the same!  Beautiful job of accenting those details, Amanda!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Link Party

I am really liking this multi-tone look that Leone Design created. Martha custom mixed a color using CoCo with a touch of Provence for the body, and Old Ochre for the bottom drawer.  Also, coveting the strong box she scored from the flea market...love your style Martha!
Next, check out this beautifully updated piano that Nicole from Doodles and Stitches worked on while her husband was out of town.  She had planned on using Old White, but decided to go bold with Provence, and what a perfect color choice!  Nicole did complain about the dust from sanding when she was distressing the piano, this is one reason Annie recommends to wax first, then sand to distress.  No mess!  Another option is to distress prior to waxing by using a wet terry cloth towel versus sand paper - again eliminating the dust.  Either way, it is beautiful, and I enjoyed reading Nicole's story that this piano has been in her family for a number of years and is now updated for many more years to come!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Link Party!

We have been so super busy painting, prepping, and getting ready for our upcoming street fair.
We are so excited to be apart of Nest Fest this year!  We will have a booth at the street market in Longmont, Colorado this Saturday, May 19.  Come join us from 9-3 at 2015 Ionosphere St.  We will have furniture to show and sell, painting demos, and, of course, plenty of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on hand!  If you are in Northern Colorado, stop by and say hello!

Laura from Whimsical Perspective always catches our eye with her gorgeous finishes and lovely staging and styling.  This entry table, originally painted in Old White, had been sitting for awhile, so out came the brush and French Linen and just look at the after!  I don't think this one will be sitting around for long.
Amanda from Reloved Rubbish saw past the very dated speckled finish of this mirror and worked some magic with Louis Blue and Old White accents followed by a wash with CoCo

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Link Party

What a beautiful day yesterday was and today is shaping up to be the same! Gorgeous spring weather! We spent the afternoon outside prepping the garden for planting, I can't wait for garden fresh tomatoes. I definitely have spring fever!
Martina at Northern Nesting did a fabulous job on this little piece. After Old Ochre and CoCo, it looks divine in her entry! Love the color combination you chose, Martina.
And, what can I say? I am a sucker for french script. Stiltskin Studios transformed these end tables in Old Ochre and added a french poem stencil. Michele, I am scheming where to put these in MY living room!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Makeover

Since becoming retailers for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint nearly a year ago, most of you know that we just opened our store front last fall. After being a shop at home window covering business for 11 years, this has been quite an adjustment. The first order of business was to redo and update the shared lobby in our building. The building is amazing, it is from the late 1800's and has so much character; we absolutely love the charm. The lobby on the other hand, really needed a facelift. I think the last time it was updated was in the 1980's.

Here is the before...
It almost had the feel of a waiting area for a Mexican restaurant. Especially the row of tiles beneath the benches. Don't get us wrong, we absolutely love Mexican food, but we were looking for a softer, more european feel.
Being on a very tight budget, we had to get creative.
Now, the after...
We reupholstered the bench cushions using a large drop cloth and made pillows out of burlap and the leftover drop cloth material.
To add interest and to help break up the monochromatic theme, we Chalk Painted the pillows using various stencil designs. We used French Linen, CoCo, and Graphite on the pillows. Yes, you can use Chalk Paint on fabric! Because the paint is so highly pigmented, it just fades ever so slightly each time you wash it. This fading only adds to the beauty of the look.
For an even softer tone on tone look, we used Old White on this pillow below.
And of course, the tile had to go. It was so easy, we did lightly scuff the tiles with 150 grit sand paper, just to scratch the surface. It only took a few seconds. Then painted with Country Grey. We painted two quick coats of paint, stenciled a few, and then sealed with wax. It is durable and has held up great even with people sitting and kicking their feet up against it.
What a simple, easy fix for changing the look of the room.
We found these gorgeous lanterns and could not pass up the opportunity to use them. Added a mirror, a lamp, and a few accessories and mission accomplished.

Here's a quick peek again at where we started...

Goodbye Mexican restaurant, hello european elegance....
Stay tuned as we share more ASCP makeovers of our store

Happy New Year Chalk Painting Friends!

Wow, I can't believe 2011 is already gone.
We are so excited to begin 2012 and looking forward to all the new products that Annie will be releasing this year. Boy are we going to have fun.

We have been so busy over the Holiday Season getting ready to re-release our Chalk Paint Sample Decks that we designed and fabricate. Most Chalk Paint Retailers across the country will have them available for purchase by the end of the month.

We are excited to be going to our yearly Chalk Paint retailer meeting down in Louisiana in March, that officially kicks off Annie's Tour for 2012

With that said, we hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What I really like about this piece from Whimsical Perspective is the multiple colors used.
I am a big fan of using Chalk Paint washes over other colors to create depth.

This piece started with CoCo and Old White with a French Linen wash over the whole piece.
It shows that learning some Techniques from an Annie Sloan Workshop sure pays off!

Weekly Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party

At Atelier be, Jess and Vikki started with a couple of worn and tattered chairs with great style but lacking in everything else. After a base coat of Louis Blue followed by a wash using a mixture of Old White, Country Grey, and CoCo, they are now elegant and refined!
Elisa from Apple Turnover loves the serenity of Old White on this beautiful bed she painted. We agree! What a gorgeous place to rest and relax. There's just something about Old White and the sophistication and understated elegance it brings to a room.
Hope everyone has a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!
We will be leaving our linky party open all week as we celebrate with our family and friends.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!

Almost one month in our new store and we are already expanding....
Yeah, we can't believe it either!!!
We have been blessed with selecting our location in
Historic Downtown Monument Colorado

It is the coolest building built in the early 1900's, and has so much charm and character.

So here starts the remodel after one month. Oh and we will be remodeling our front foyer as well. Going for the French Look!

We will share some pics when finished.

We have been waiting so impatiently to feature this hutch, it is absolutely stunning...

A picture is worth a thousand words, isn't it? Chrystal, all I can say is WOW!!!
Here is the recipe she used: a little Old White, some CoCo, and lots of distressing.
Then snap the picture.
Everyone tells me (Brad) that I always use to much blue when painting furniture, I just can't help myself. Obviously Shalaine's shares my love of my favorite paint color combo.

Forget the Oreo's....Aubusson Blue and French Linen together, a new classic combination!

Also, you might notice, we finally have our buttons available on the sidebar to the right.
Feel free to grab and share!

Now it is your turn to share what you have been Chalk Painting....

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!

We have been getting all the finishing touches put together for our store that is now open! So many of you have been asking to see what we have been up to and we promise we will be sharing photos later this week.

Thanks everyone for linking up and sharing the word about our weekly Chalk Paint linky party! We love to see what everyone is creating and doing with Chalk Paint. Even though we work with it everyday, we are still amazed at everything that can be done with paint and wax.

What caught our eye this week was seeing some of the new colors....
French Linen (above)
And CoCo. They are just gorgeous, simple and elegant!

Talk about getting your money's worth, Janet of The Empty Nest created this gorgeous makeover on this china cabinet for only $7.80 in Chalk Paint! Yes, you read correctly, her china cabinet went from dark and dated to beautiful and chic with just a little imagination and $7.80! The Aubusson Blue really sets off the CoCo nicely, don't you think? I also like the small accents of Pure White in just the right places, excellent work, Janet!
Next, check out this little beauty....Love, love, love the color combo (and her name too!) Amber from Queen of Chairs gave this vanity a whole new look using Provence, Old White, and French Linen. Great way to accentuate the character of this vanity!
