Goodwill + Chalk Paint = Golden Nugget!

Sometimes you just need to take a break and create something beautiful! How calming and relaxing painting is, especially when it is so simple and easy to create something wonderful.
Found a set of these candle sticks at goodwill recently.
Loved the form and the gold made a great base to work with.

Provence is such a great way to take a 5 minute mental break!

Lightly painted this with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence, then wiped back with a wet rag. No need to wax this one.

Chalk Paint Link Party

Welcome back to our Chalk Paint Link Party! So sorry to be absent for a week from blogland, we have been so busy filling orders, holding workshops, and painting! Hope to post some of our projects soon.

Lots of beautiful and really creative projects linked up last week, you are all so talented!

Kim over at My Domestic Bliss did a fabulous job painting with Paris Grey and accenting with Old White. Her accents on this piece really caught my eye. Kim did a great job of accentuating the details and really bringing out the beauty in this piece and updating it.
Love what Trish from Life to the "T" did with her Chalk Paint. She wanted a lime apple green, so she custom mixed her own color! So easy to do with Chalk Paint, be sure to check out her recipe using Antibes Green, Arles, and Chateau Grey.
Do you have something you painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint?

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Link Party

Wow! A great big THANK YOU to all that linked up to our first Chalk Paint Party! Be sure to come back each Tuesday, as this will now be a regular feature of our blog. So many lovely pieces to choose from, it was hard to decide who to feature, but this is what caught our attention:

Featuring Becca over at Adventures in Decorating. What stood out to us here was the dramatic transformation with just a little bit of Old White paint. One quick and easy way to update the look of any room. Be sure to check out her before and after, love it!
Katie over at Wildwood Creek updated this dresser using Aubusson Blue. We love the simplicity of the color she chose and how it doesn't over power the beauty of the details.
Very nice job!
Beautiful work ladies!

How to mix Chalk Paint to Create New Colors

Remember that Annie's paints do not contain black pigment (with the exception of Graphite). This allows for unlimited possibilities with mixing your own custom colors. Here is an example from Annie herself. This is a progression sheet created using Emperor's Silk and Old White.
You can see that even though there is not a true pink available in the 24 colors in the Chalk Paint line, you can easily create your own, and in varying shades. The top left corner is pure Emperor's Silk. Then, progressively mixed with one part Old White, then two parts, three parts and four parts....you get the idea.

We recommend that you use some sort of measuring device to keep your ratios consistent and of course write them down in order to repeat and recreate the color.

What about you?
What colors have you tried mixing or what colors would you like to see mixed?

Dark Wax - Bringing out the details

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!
So many gorgeous pieces to see.
We will definitely be making this a regular weekly feature on our blog.
Be sure to come back and check it out and link up your piece next Tuesday.

Our next project is a sofa table we found on Craigslist.
Beautiful details, not a very pretty finish in honey glazed oak.
It is much happier now
The dark wax really brings out all the detail carvings
No problem covering the oak grain and finish
From boring to stunning! Completed in about 2 hours start to finish!
The table was painted with Paris Grey, then the detailed areas were dry brushed with Old White. A coat of Clear Wax followed by Dark Wax to accent. This is where our Wax Brush really comes in handy to work the wax into the carved areas, much easier to achieve the right look and you use less wax with the brush.

Don't forget about our 4 oz. Chalk Paint sample pots that are available for online ordering.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!

Welcome to our Chalk Paint Linky Party! We will be making this a regular weekly feature to be able to showcase and share what others are doing with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

I just love this dining table that Rachel from Absolutely Loving My Life did using Graphite. Be sure to read her story of how she found the table and eight matching chairs!

Also featuring the very talented Leah Mari from Little Place Called Home Sweet Home. Leah Mari transformed her FREE end tables with Louis Blue and Old White. Beautiful Job! Be sure to check out her amazing photography too!

Hidden Treasure......Chalk Paint Facelift

Here are the before photos from Craigslist. I wish I would have taken a close up of the top, it was really rough and dry
But I liked the details in the drawer, it just needed a facelift.

My fourteen year old daughter wanted to paint it, so she picked the color.
She finished it in about an hour!

Decided to add just a little bit of detail with a pinstripe
And stippled the drawer
Much better
Voila! Facelift complete
Painted with Old Violet and detail areas with Old Ochre
