Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!

Our weather here in Colorado has just been gorgeous! I love spring, can't wait to get our garden planted and start enjoy fresh tomatoes again. Thank you for all the beautiful projects you linked up last week, it was hard to make a decision.
Love Town and Country Living's decoupage desk! After 15 years and never fully being satisfied with this desk, Jennifer took some Old Ochre and some script paper and created this stunning masterpiece! Simply beautiful, I will definitely be keeping this idea in mind for a future project.
Michele at Knot too Shabby caught my eye with her twin dressers. The one on the left is painted with Old Violet and Old White and the twin on the right is painted with Emperor's Silk and Pure White. Great idea to show the versatility of looks you can create with Chalk Paint™! Michele is also a fellow Chalk Paint™ retailer, be sure to stop by and visit her if you are in the Glendora, CA area.

Hidden Treasure......Chalk Paint Facelift

Here are the before photos from Craigslist. I wish I would have taken a close up of the top, it was really rough and dry
But I liked the details in the drawer, it just needed a facelift.

My fourteen year old daughter wanted to paint it, so she picked the color.
She finished it in about an hour!

Decided to add just a little bit of detail with a pinstripe
And stippled the drawer
Much better
Voila! Facelift complete
Painted with Old Violet and detail areas with Old Ochre

Chalk Paint Reveal

Finished up with the night stand and it turned out beautifully!
Here is what it looked like to begin with, good bones but the finish was beat up

Painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, main body painted in Old Ochre

I wanted to accent the drawer and make it pop, so I used Duck Egg Blue

along with Old Violet.

Here is the drawer with a little punch of color.
Loved the raised area down the side of the night stand and wanted to accent it a little bit, but didn't want to take away from the drawer being the focal point. I painted a layer of Duck Egg Blue and Old Violet just on the raised area prior to painting the whole piece with Old Ochre. Waxed it and then sanded back to reveal a hint of color beneath.
Here you can see both colors revealed, also sanded through to the wood in areas too.
Finished with a coat of Clear Wax and Dark Wax accents.

I wish you touch the finish through the computer, it is so smooooth!
What do you think? Not bad for a beat up thrift store find.

"Violet, You're turning Violet, Violet!"

I love what Kim over at Savvy Southern Style says about our paint:

"I've been playing in the chalk paint again. This stuff is so much fun to paint with. Dries so quickly and sands off without having to use any strength at all. It becomes soft as a baby's behind. Very silky to the touch."

Take a look at how Kim completely transformed this beautiful piece with Chalk Paint
Here is what she started with
Love the curves and details, but they were lost with the dark stain.
Kim chose Old Violet, which is actually a beautiful French Blue. Look at how it brought out all the great details that were hidden before.
Kim painted two coats of Old Violet and then applied Annie Sloan Soft Wax in clear. Then she distressed the piece with sandpaper and a sanding block. Next, she applied dark wax in places and followed it up with more clear wax. Buffed it to a shine and Viola, it is gorgeous!

I absolutely LOVE this Color!

Don't be fooled by the name or what you see on the small swatches, Old Violet really is a beautiful French Blue. Pictured above is the true color of Old Violet, straight from the paint can. To see more true Chalk Paint colors, please visit our website Shades of Amber

What do you think? Is Old Violet your color?
