Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Link Party

It's that time again...
It is such a joy to see so many people creating and enjoying ASCP. There really are no limits as to what you can create and you guys prove that each and every week with what you share by linking up! Thanks so much for the creativity and inspiration you share.
Shizzle Design has been busy painting away and Shelly has developed her own unique style of layering on multiple colors to achieve a time worn patina look. She does a wonderful job of highlighting the details of each piece and turning them into treasures. I can see why they are flying out of her booth as fast as she can paint them! Beautiful work Shelly, thanks for sharing.

Why is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint so different?

We are constantly asked by new customers why is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint so different than other paints? Well, there are many reasons! One benefit is that you do not need to sand or prime your piece of furniture prior to painting, a BIG plus! There is also Annie's amazing color palette with 29 rich, beautiful, historical European colors.

But the real charm of Chalk Paint comes from how easy it is to create different paint effects with just paint and wax. What a simple system! A can of Chalk Paint and a tin of wax allows you so much flexibility in creating whatever look you want. On this end table below, we loved the curves and the legs and wanted to give it an authentic French look.
Check out the end result.
We wanted to keep a neutral color palette, so we used Country Grey and Old White along with the Clear and Dark waxes.
It was so easy to manipulate the paint to get a time worn patina.

I just love the detailing on the drawer and the layering of the paint to create depth.
And the cracks that break through to expose the layer below.
Remember where we started off?
And the finished look.
This is just one of the many wonderful and unique qualities about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

You definitely can't get this look with latex!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party & Winners

We have three winners from our sample deck giveaway:

Linda from Coastal Charm
Norma from Norma's Kentiques
Amy from aimZ blingZ

Congratulations! We hope you will enjoy seeing all of the Chalk Paint colors!

These two pieces caught our eye from last week's party. Sarah from Imperfect Patina really captured the unique design of this piece by accenting the curved drawer with a dark rich stain along with Paris Grey. Beautiful!
Katrina over at Malenka Originals took a quality dresser and made it stunning! Again, I really liked the contrast between the dark chocolate brown stain and the Old White. Very nice look!

Chalk Paint Floors and Lacquer

You have heard that Annie Sloan Chalk Paint can be used on just about anything. We wanted to share our experience of using Chalk Paint on floors.

Below is exhibit A - our store. The commercial grade basic carpet wasn't doin' much for us and it had a lot of wear and dirt patterns to it from the previous tenant. So one evening after closing the store, we jumped in with both feet and ripped out the carpet.
Of course, we had pulled up a small area in the corner to check and see what was underneath, just concrete! We were good to go. Then, look what surprise awaited us in the back. Yup, that's linoleum flooring from 30 years ago! And, yes, it was glued down like iron!
We worked into the wee hours of the morning and wished we had some dynamite to blast the cursed linoleum off. After way too many, and I mean many hours of stripping it down and questioning our sanity of our little project, we finally came up with this.
We had decided to use Graphite and stencil some patterns on with Old White
Fortunately, this went really quick and easy.
Rolled on the Chalk Paint and it covered beautifully!
And we just had to try out Annie's new water based Lacquer
Check out the after
We rolled the Lacquer on with a sponge roller in no time flat. We used only one coat since we want the floor to wear and have more of a natural patina.
Very little smell, even in an enclosed area
The stencils took some time but we think well worth the effort
I love how we can just sweep and mop the floor now.
Are you ready to do your floors?

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party!

One of the blessings of being an Annie Sloan Retailer is the people we get to associate with on a daily basis. We want to thank all of you that came to our workshop last Saturday. We had a lot of fun even though it was snowing, Again. Only another three months of winter for us here in Colorado. We are so ready for Spring!!!!
We have a great opportunity this week to share some pieces that are very clean and beautifully done. One of the many great advantages of Chalk Paint is the versatility of the product. Most of you have seen a lot of pieces distressed, but check these pieces out.

Danielle from Silver Pennies painted this dresser and a chest in Old White and Duck Egg blue. She thought about distressing them, but I am glad she didn't.
Beautiful!

Heidi from Lily Field Furniture painted this fantastic piece in Aubusson Blue. I must say that this kind of shocked us, and in a good way. We don't normally see Annie's paint on this style of furniture. All we can say is WOW. Love It.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Linky Party

Our weekend was spent playing in the snow! Here is a foot of snow, followed by 8 more inches the next day. One of the blessings of living at 7200 feet is snow days!

Wow!! Check out this amazing chalk painted kitchen makeover from Whimsical Perspective. Laura finished this makeover in just a few days and with 4 quarts of ASCP. I love the color combo of French Linen and Old Ochre.
Gail's Decorative Touch put the finishing touch of Primer Red and Graphite on this china cabinet and transformed an ordinary piece into one that will be cherished.
