Kitchen Remodel Woes

Happy Monday everyone!  We hope everyone had a beautiful weekend.

We wanted to share our joy of a DIY kitchen remodel from last week.

Our kids started school last Tuesday, so of course Monday night was the perfect time to finish up the shelves in the pantry so we could be more organized and ready for packing lunches and snacks, right?   The contents of our pantry have been spread throughout our dining room and living room for the last month, so needless to say, I was thrilled!

Here is the start of it.

Never got the picture with the finished shelves, but they were there.....for about 10 minutes.

Then we walked downstairs to find it raining in our basement.  

Shortly afterwards, the pantry looked like this. 

See all those lovely copper plumbing lines in there?

Yea, they can sure make it rain when there is about 5 different holes punctured in them.

At midnight, we had this. 

Fortunately, we were able to get the plumbing completely fixed the next afternoon.  

Needless to say, I still don't have pantry shelves...sigh.

But at least we have running water again in the house!

Thankful that our four kids (including 2 teenage daughters) were troopers about not having any running water for the first morning of starting school.

I am sure everyone has had their share of DIY remodel woes.

It is raining in our basement!

Yes, it involves our kitchen remodel.

YIKES!

 Cleaning up wet soggy drywall and water in the basement and trying to repair a broken pipe.

Brad has a torch in his hand, Amber has a fire extinguisher, wish us luck!

Chalk Paint™ Link Party!

We just returned from a road trip finishing up the last days of summer.  After overcoming some car troubles, we were able to finish out the trip by visiting the Omaha Zoo.  We had never been there before, and my what a treat!  That place was simply amazing, if you are ever anywhere nearby, it is definitely worth stopping to visit!

While we were gone, everyone was busy painting away...

I just love this color combination that Lora at Leisure Living chose, Florence and Versailles.  

It is definitely bright, fun, and simply gorgeous!

 I also really like to soft, smokey violet that Michele from Stiltskin Studios used.  

She selected a lovely combination of a custom mix using Emile along with Old White accents.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!  Things are busy around here as we get ready to get kids back to school.  What fun projects everyone linked up, I can't wait to see what you create this week!  

Deny from A Girl and a Brush is in love with Chalk Paint™ and it shows!  She chose Emperor's Silk to showcase this beautiful dresser.  Great pop of color and what a beautiful job distressing!

 Suzy of Simply Vintageous stole my heart with her color combination of Versailles and Pure White.  I just love the simple farmhouse look.  Another great job of light, natural distressing and what a change from the dark and heavy piece it was before.  Lovely!
